Thursday’s Maths Task

Here are the answers for yesterday’s starter:

How did you do?

Please answer the following questions for today’s starter…

Main Activity

In our penultimate lesson on volume, we will use our knowledge from lesson 3 to find the volume of different shapes. We will start by looking at the three different dimensions of real life objects and then use measurements to help us find volume. By the end of this lesson, you will begin to be able to find the volume of different 3D shapes.

Have a look at the link below – look through the video and then have a go at the independent activities. Don’t forget to pause the video when asked to complete the questions in the video!

Thursday’s Writing Task

This week we will be using ‘OAK ACADEMY’ to look at diary entries.

Today’s task is about exploring the formal language you might find in a diary entry.

Watch the video and complete the independent activities linked to it on the slides.

Make a note of any of the language that you like – you might be able to use it when it comes to writing your own.

Thursday’s Reading Activity

Yesterday we started reading the first half of Chapter 7, today we will be finishing it off!

Have a read through and then have a go at answering the questions – remember to answer in full sentences and if there is a word you are unsure of use a dictionary! 🙂

Have a go at answering the following questions about the second half of Chapter 7

1) Why has Finn kept the hut just as Bernard Taverner had left it?

2) Maia thinks that she had never seen a place she liked more. Do you agree with her? Why?

3) Why was it an honour that Finn’s father was allowed to marry a member of the Xanti tribe?

4) Finn seems to take a keen interest in Clovis. Is he just being polite to make conversation? Explain your answer.

5) What does a ‘companionable silence’ mean?

6) How is Maia confused about Westwood? Do you think Finn’s answer helps to clear up her confusion?
